Witty bits from what I learned in the UK (6) [Vorbe de duh din ce am învăţat eu în UK]

Q: How come all the coal-fired electrical plants in the UK are built on the East Coast, overlooking the Old Continent? And this is so, in spite of the fact that, with the exception of those situated in Northumberland, all British coal deposits can be found in the central, and Western part of the country.

A: Simply because prevailing winds over Britain blow from the West. Long before any knowledge of air pollution or global warming, the Brits wouldn’t have liked to see smoke and soot over their own cities, and farmlands, would they? Therefore, this is not so much another proof of perfidious Albion, but rather one of pragmatic Albion.
